When the city came into view, he wept over it. “If you had only recognized this day, and everything that was good for you! But now it’s too late. In the days ahead your enemies are going to bring up their heavy artillery and surround you, pressing in from every side. They’ll smash you and your babies on the pavement. Jesus knew.

Jesus knew all along what was to come.

Nothing and no one is hidden from His eyes.

I imagine He was feeling the anguish and weight of ALL that had come before this “triumphant entry”, and He wept for what was still to come in Jerusalem and to God’s people.

“… If only you could recognize that this day peace is within your reach! But you cannot see it.” (TPT)

Overwhelmed, Jesus released all of His emotions to His Father… and then continued His tumultuous journey to the cross.

The power of Easter will be lost if you want to jump over this part.

We need to walk with the disciples, with Jesus through Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to understand Easter Sunday’s miracle.

One thing I’ll never get over is how Jesus stays with his people, loving them, teaching them, serving them, feeding them, yearning to be with them, even knowing that they will almost all desert him within a week.”

Jesus knew and yet He stayed, focused on the ultimate purpose of His life, His death, and His resurrection.
