Consider // Made new

For here’s what I’m going to do: I’m going to take you out of these countries, gather you from all over, and bring you back to your own land. I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands. You’ll once again live in the land I gave your ancestors. You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God!

// Ezekiel‬ ‭36:24-28‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I am in the depths of the book of Ezekiel as a study during the Lenten season *. It has been eye-opening, gut-wrenching, and God expanding!

Yes, God expanding… we all see God from our human perspective. I can honestly admit, I tend to want to see God in His goodness alone.

Yet, each chapter of Ezekiel tells of a God of wrath, of jealousy, of desolation.

What God continues to admonish to His people – the “House of Israel” – is that He gives as their sin deserves because they will not turn from their sin.

So He turns His face from them.

Through it all, there is hope.

Yet I will leave a remnant when you are scattered among the nations, for throughout the countries there will be some of you who will escape the sword.

// Ezekiel‬ ‭6:8 CSB‬‬

Hard to see in the midst of absolute destruction occurring throughout the years of Ezekiel’s captivity, yet the Lord sends Ezekiel for the specific task to keep Israel apprised of what is coming and of His ultimate promise.

He will bring them back to their land. He will unite them. He will cleanse them of their iniquities.

I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you.

Consider // As my heart and mind expands to consider God in His vast mystery and loving kindness, I challenge you to open your heart and mind seeking new revelation through His Word and His presence.

In the midst of the darkest days, He continues to be our hope.
