How to celebrate

It has been a minute since I blogged.

Life has thrown me many curve balls since the start of 2022, and now I am finishing out my busy season at work.

For the main event I have been managing over the last eight months, the theme scripture passage has been…

From the Voice, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18,

Celebrate always, Pray constantly, & give Thanks to God no matter what.

What a time in our lives to have this scripture as the background of my life!!

It is rough out there! With the awful war in Ukraine, the pandemic continuing yet less discussed, family passing away, mental health concerns at a high, the economic infrastructure more and more unstable, and basic human kindness so often hard to find…

How do we celebrate always?

How do we find the resolve to see the good in this world and to seek the goodness God is?

I think the scripture reveals the key to this conundrum.

The key is the combination of celebrating and rejoicing… with constantly going to God in prayer… and a heavy dose of gratitude to God.

God knew this combo is the way to find our purpose in this life.

The scripture continues, telling us…

no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. (This is God’s will for all of you in Jesus the Anointed.)

God’s will for us is to pursue a life full of active rejoicing, continual purposeful prayer, and dynamic gratitude for everything God is doing.

Continue reading chapter 5, and you land on verse 24,

For the God who calls you is faithful, and He can be trusted to make it so.

Yes, in our own strength – more so, our own weakness – it is truly difficult to be grateful no matter what… yet in God’s faithfulness to pursue us in His goodness, this beautiful combination of God’s will can be our reality.

I pray you take time to steep in this passage, and practice God’s will for us each day… for who doesn’t like a celebration?!
