Battle plan

Let the word of Christ live in you richly,
flooding you with all wisdom.

“When Paul says in Colossians 3:16 to ‘let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,’ it’s not a sweet suggestion; it’s a battle-plan to preserve unity in Christ and to stand with humility and grace in a world of opposition. We can’t be passive about it.⁣
Think about what might happen among us if we were to be ruled by the peace of Christ and consumed by the truth of God’s Word…
Friend, we aren’t to be flippant about how we study the Bible and how we walk with Jesus.”
– Ruth Chou Simons, Gracelaced

Over the past few years – and as if it was the 12 cups of water I’ve needed daily in 2020 – digging into God’s Word has become more and more vital to my daily life. It has not always been like that, and I honestly regret the years I let go by without allowing the Word to infiltrate and “live” in me.

Catch the word “live”! The Passion Translation says it translates to “grow”. We must allow the Word to grow in us richly.

This is not a passive homework assignment to be done in the wee hours of night before a major test.

Digging into God’s Word daily is a battle plan.

Dictionary.com defines a “battle plan” as a plan “for accomplishing a goal or dealing with a problem or difficult situation”.

That’s 2020, right? THAT’S LIFE!

We cannot grow in Christ, unless we truly learn His ways through His Word.

In my next post, I’ll highlight resources to help us create a battle plan, digging deep into His Word so we can continue – or begin – allowing God’s Word to live in us.
