“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!”
// John 14:27 TPT
Chaos is rampant.
Division is the norm.
Cruelty is praised.
Do these statements make you uncomfortable and tense?
I hope so because this is not what God intended for us. This is not “normal”.
As Jesus spoke to His disciples in the book of John, He knew they were all kinds of worried, fearful, concerned, confused as He continued to remind them of His departure from this world. Even as Jesus Himself spoke to His closest companions, they could not find peace in the belief that what He was saying was true and for the best.
How much harder is it for us who do not have Jesus sitting across from us speaking these words and looking intently into our eyes?
Yet, we are called to be a people of peace. And Jesus was and is still freely giving a sturdy, unwavering peace that can bring courage to our step and fierceness to our purpose.
We must lean into this peace; to chase it, to seek it out, to intently dig deep into God’s Word for instruction to engage it.
Peace is our weapon in the midst of chaos, division, and cruelty.
Will you pick it up and use it wisely?
