This girl

Every. Single. Time I listen to Lauren Daigle’s song, This Girl, I feel like she is singing my anthem!  It is a vulnerably honest statement of acknowledging her wandering, yet… YET, she is firm and steadfast knowing now –

THIS GIRL AIN’T GOING ANYWHERE!

I’ve been a winding road, oh, I know You know
Sometimes a stranger in my home
Keep going back and forth through the open door
I’m still learning to be still

This girl ain’t going anywhere
This girl ain’t going anywhere
I can promise You this, now I know for sure
This girl ain’t going anywhere

I’ve run for miles and lost sight of where You are
But You have seen me all along
Maybe I’m the last to know when I’ve gone too far
And yet I’m always by Your side

Oh, I know
I’ve searched the world to find my heart is Yours
Oh, my heart is Yours
I’ve searched the world to find my heart is Yours
Oh, my heart is Yours

This girl ain’t going anywhere

Have you searched the world for more? For someone to hold your heart securely in their hands? Have you felt like you could not escape the past for fear of the future? Have you felt like a stranger in your own home?

You cannot wander forever.

Take steps of honesty, acknowledging you cannot go on… on your own.

Your heart is God’s and, until you accept Him, the wandering will be the default mode of your existence. When you accept Him and invite Him into your heart, your journey begins again. Go confidently forth claiming… THIS GIRL AIN’T GOING ANYWHERE.

And once you walk boldly forth with God, you can claim these verses (and many others)…

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
– Psalm 91:1-4 NLT

Let all who fear the Lord repeat:
“His faithful love endures forever.”
In my distress I prayed to the Lord,
and the Lord answered me and set me free.
The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?
– Psalm 118:4-6 NLT

Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
– 1 Corinthians 15:58
