The weight of it all

I have been burdened today.

Weighed down and so concerned about many things, cycling through the sadness, frustration and unknowns.

It got to a point where I needed to press pause on the worrying, and so I began to journal about all of it. With transparency and speed, a list of cares came out of me and fell onto the page.

I read through the list and was reminded of a scripture passage. I searched for it and thus began a focused hour in the Word.

I found a scripture passage for each concern.

I thought I would share the scriptures with you, hoping they will bring peace and pause to your worried mind.

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

Romans 8:1-2

“Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP

Preach the word of God… For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.

2 Timothy 4:2,3 NLT

“Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28 MSG

“You can’t worship the true God while enslaved to the god of money! This is why I tell you to never be worried about your life, for all that you need will be provided, such as food, water, clothing—everything your body needs. Isn’t there more to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body more than clothing?”

Matthew 6:24-25 TPT

For through the Son everything was created, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen… it was all created through him and for his purpose! He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in him.

Colossians 1:16-17 TPT

How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.

Psalm 13:2,5-6 NIV

Maybe you are weighed down as well this day. Take your worries, journal about them and then connect each one to scripture. Allow the Word of the Lord to cover your cares and release the heavy burdens from your shoulders.
