What season are you in?
I am definitely in a season of becoming, and have been for a few years now. It’s been a difficult, exhilarating and profound time – a lot of the time, all at once.
Some would use the term metamorphosis for this season of becoming.
Metamorphosis: noun, a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means.
Take a few minutes to be reminded of the astounding transformation of the caterpillar into butterfly. As the physical change occurs, realize this is what is occurring when you figuratively open yourself up to the season of transformation.
There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness.
This is neither.
This season is about becoming.
– Shauna Niequist
During this season of becoming in my life, there are days I feel so far from the “Kim” – the caterpillar – I was… and then there are those days when life does not feel or look any different.
The reality is – Life is different.
My perspective on many things is different. The boundaries in relationships and my personal/professional life are different. I see a bit more gently. I am more acquainted with my lack of knowledge than my wealth of knowledge, and that is okay. I question more for understanding rather than knowledge. I am more earnest in listening and having a voice. I am more and more aware that each experience can bring growth, and I choose to lean into that growth. I am mindful of my equal need for quiet solitude and the rejuvenation of being in community. I am ever more dependent on the saving grace of Jesus, the counsel of the Holy Spirit and the relentless love of God.

So, I ask you, what season are you in? Are you exploring new found freedom? Found yourself in a relationship or career that is giving you focus and potential roots? Are you in a time of transformation, which will then lead you to a next season of wildness or settledness?
Do not rush this season you are in.
Be diligent to seek the gifts of growth, understanding and connection with the One who journeys with you.
