I have a recurring conversation with a coworker about how we do not understand how people do life without God. This conversation has become more frequent over the last few months as her father has gone through cancer treatments and I have gone through my mom’s recent passing.
We just had one of those conversations this morning, and it got me thinking about the beauty and significance of God being a present, intentional, available god.
He ALWAYS shows up but we’re often not sensitive to His presence.
Think back over the last week… can you find moments when you know God showed up – moments you just know He somehow orchestrated an occurrence, gave you peace or strength to get through an incident, or helped you stop and experience a lovely view or interaction with someone?
There is constant speculation on how much God works in the details of life. I get that speculation because we have limited understanding of an infinite God. But He also is a good God who wants only good things for His children. Why would He not be in the details? (Something we will never know on this side of Heaven.)
How About This…
In the midst of the weekend ahead, take time to notice Him, to intentionally seek out God’s presence and moving in your day. You will be better for it.
Wherever I go, your hand will guide me;
your strength will empower me.
It’s impossible to disappear from you
or to ask the darkness to hide me,
for your presence is everywhere, bringing light into my night.
There is no such thing as darkness with you.
The night, to you, is as bright as the day;
there’s no difference between the two.
